    Leave the Laundry to us.

Very few people know this but the typical dress shirt is not dry cleaned, it is laundered. The reason for this is that most dress shirts are made from cotton, which responds best to cleaning in water.

We start by performing a detailed pre-inspection of your shirt to identify any collar stains or wear and tear that may present difficulties in the future. We then pre-spot your shirt with a laundry collar treatment that removes hard collar stains and ring around the collar. Once that is complete we remove any collar stays from the shirt and launder the shirt in our state-of-the-art laundry machines. These machines use a formula specifically designed to remove difficult stains and restore the vibrance of your shirt.

Once the laundry cycle is complete, we press and finish your laundered shirt to a flawless finish. The shirt is then hung on our hangers, which gives the shirt a stiffer form and prevents the collapsing that you commonly see with wire hangers. We then perform one final inspection to ensure that all stains have been removed and the laundered shirt is up to our uncompromising standards.  The result is the most pristine laundered shirt in the industry.

    What is causing your Alergies?

Tiny bits of lint, fabric, dead skin cells, pet dander, pollen and other plant matter, drywall, paint particles, carpet fibers, soil, hair, and dust mites. While any of these substances can irritate your nose or throat, some people are truly allergic to dust mite droppings. Dust mites—microscopic bugs that consume dead skin cells of humans and animals—live inside pillows, mattresses, curtains, carpet, and furniture.

      Wet cleaning helps Allergies

Mildew is a form of mold, a fungus that can produce mild allergic reactions or severe health problems, depending on the extent of exposure. Symptoms include throat and nose irritation, red or watery eyes, sneezing, and headaches. Mildew feeds on organic matter (this includes cotton, leather, and silk garments, as well as food stains on garments) and grows in damp, warm places. It can develop on wet garments whether they are clean or dirty. Even the small amount of moisture from perspiration can be enough to grow mildew if the garment is not aired out and washed.

To prevent mildew, make sure garments are completely dry before putting them away. Do not leave wet garments sitting in a pile. Mildew has an unpleasant, musty smell and appears as black dots on clothing. It is best to take very mildewed garments to your neighborhood dry cleaner.

Have you ever wondered what happens to your cloths after you drop them off at the dry cleaners?

      Secret No. 1

Is there anything clean about dry cleaning?

Probably the biggest loose term in the world is dry cleaning because there is nothing dry about it!  Everyone in the dry cleaning industry knows there is no water in dry cleaning. Your clothes are cleaned with a liquid chemical solvent instead of water.

      Secret No. 2

      Pretreating can make stains worst!

If you think club soda is a good stain remover, please think againWhat happens when you put club soda on a stain? Yes, you’ll dab out the stain yet, at the same time you’ll spread the stain. The carbonation in club soda doesn’t do anything it has NO stain removing abilities. Art’s Cleaners pretreat all stains with a variety of chemicals before putting them into the dry cleaning machine itself.

      Secret No. 3

“Dry Clean Only” Don’t Always Believe Garment Bags.

Our plastic bags- Under all other circumstances, we always advise you to promptly remove our plastic bags from your cleaned garments because they are NOT designed for long term storage.  The plastic gives off gasses, traps humidity and prohibits air flow around the garment. All of this can cause discoloration and staining, especially in light colored items. BUT…

When packing for a trip our plastic bags will form an air pocket around your garment and reduce friction.  Friction causes wrinkles, and plastic reduces friction. If you pack each item on a hanger with its own bag your will have less wrinkles when you get to your destination. We challenge you to try this packing tip and then let us know how it worked.
